SATURDAY

10am - 12pm

  • Poodles Worldwide - Breeding, Rearing and Judging :

    • Our international panel of Poodle experts will launch our weekend of ‘Poodle Excellence’ with a discussion of the state of Poodle breeding, judging, and presentation, worldwide. We will discuss the practice of breeding Poodles, specifically the difference between breeding “for pedigrees” in contrast to breeding “for the virtues” of one dog versus another. We will talk about selecting puppies for your show and breeding program, as well as the importance of rearing a Poodle as a Poodle; the often overlooked ‘breed-specific’ rearing of a Poodle that is needed for that ‘Poodle IT factor’. We will bring this all together in a talk about ‘How to Judge the Poodle’, a workshop for breeders, owners and aspiring judges. Our panelists will also discuss “Poodles as Art” and the uniqueness of this breed’s presentation in art, photographed, and in the ring.

1 - 3pm

  • Winning Poodle Presentation - Handling:

    • Learn how to present the Poodle so that it will WIN: handling edition! Our panelists will discuss what handling techniques make a winning performance for a Poodle; what you need to present and emphasize from your Poodle in the ring. Handling techniques are demonstrated by our world-famous Poodle handlers!

3 - 5pm

  • Winning Poodle Presentation - Grooming:

    • Learn how to present the Poodle so that it will WIN: grooming edition! Our panelists will discuss how your Poodle’s trim and overall silhouette need to look in the show ring. This will include the absolute importance of coat condition, maintenance banding, and how you need to prepare your Poodle’s coat.

Our expert panelists will discuss and demonstrate how Poodle grooming relates to structure and angulation, the importance of balance in Poodle grooming, and common mistakes made that interfere with the Poodle’s elegant silhouette. We will teach you how to take your interpretation of the standard and your artistic ability to ‘create your own brand’ of Poodle.
